I was in Barcelona 2 weeks ago for a long weekend and it made me even more determined to go back to Spain. However, I quite fancy using some of my end of contract gratuity to relax and travel around South East Asia and then go in January 2008- is this a good idea? I did a search and people are saying that it's better to come in September as there's more work available there, but just how much would be available in January?
As mentioned before I'm British, 31, speak Spanish and have a CELTA, YL Extension to the CELTA (but no PGCE) and a DELTA as well as experience working in London, Cairo, Barcelona, Hong Kong and Dubai. I've taught children and adults, General, Business and Academic English as well as exam classes.
I could just about manage on 10 hours work per week, as I have savings to fall back on (considering that I'd be sharing a flat with other people) but not for long. I'm also an IELTS Examiner- is it easy to pick up such work? Or is there not enough work to go around? I'd prefer to work in Barcelona again but would consider working in Madrid or another city in Spain and then going back to Barcelona in September 2008 when more work becomes available.
What would you do? I realise that there is a lot of competition for work in Spain and want to know what my realistic chances are, but also like the idea of taking time out before working again.
Thanks in advance. |
