I don't know exactly how germane all that is to the visa issue.....

But bullseye maruss, right on the money. I would agree with every word.

Thanks but do bear in mind that I wrote it with deep regret, not relish!
My closest Russian friends are the best ones I have ever made in my life from all the countries I have visited, so this was not out of any disrespect to them.I am just sorry that their country is in such a mess and that they appear not to have learned anything from the mistakes of the past-not one of the perpetrators of Stalins crimes has ever been punished to my knowledge-it's probably much easier just to let them die off, although their descendants are now busy setting-up'Putinism' in place of the Soviet Union!
As the old saying goes, the truth can be very inconvenient for some and dangerous to those who look for it!

Well I just got denied an invite for visa by Russian officials on my first attempted visit to Russia. What's that about?
Hey, anyone know if it makes any difference which countries passport is you travel on if you have several passports?

Obviously I have no info. about you, your background what you told them or if you have more than one passport etc.It also depends which type of visa you applied for. With the same name and same passport it would probably be pointless applying again as they may have 'blacklisted ' you in their computer records etc.By the way, did you already have an invitation and then were refused a visa or did they decline your application for the initial official invitation?
Sorry I can't be more helpful at this stage.

Yeah, I was denied application for the official invitation. I gave the school a copy of both a US and New Zealand passports and told them to submit the one they felt the most comfortable with. The only explanation from the school was, "I happens sometimes. They never give a reason."

I don't know which one they used. Maybe I gave the school too much credit and perhaps they showed the officials both. I have nothing in my background that should be a red flag too them. I have never been to Russia before. Anyway I am submitting documents to another school now, so perhaps I should use my Australian passport since I know for sure that they have not seen that one.

All I can say is give it another try with your Aussie passport.I got my one year business visa on my Cyprus passport from the Russian embassy in Nicosia free of charge as Cyprus and Russia have a special deal about fees.I bought the invitation through Intel service in Moscow for about $150 while I was there previously on a 3 month visa which I got in London from the Russian Embassy there using my British passport. The other firm which I know arranges invitations is Infinity Travel in Moscow, but I think they both use the official authority called'finn' which deals with the Foreign Ministry in Moscow.
Hope this helps.
