Hi everyone,

I know someone asked about this school back in February, but I just wanted an update. Anyone recommend Kohgakusha in Tokyo? Are they fair? Pay on time? Education-oriented? How about working conditions?

A while ago I worked for one of the Big 3 chains in the Tokyo area and started feeling like a factory worker. Now I have an interview set up for Kohgakusha. They seem reasonable...

(I have two years' teaching experience but no Masters yet.)

Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,

I don't think I can answer your question but I would just like to make a comment about their website.... www.kohgakusha.com .

The company looks legit, but I found something odd in their Teachers' profile section. It appears that they have hired a Canadian guy who graduated from Centenniel College of Applied Arts and Technology. This is NOT a university, but a college. In Canada, "college" and "university" are totally different. College graduates do not hold Bachelor degrees, but rather college diplomas. Colleges are also more geared towards vocational training and entry requirements are technically "lower" than those of universities. College program lengths also vary, but certainly nowhere near the eqivalent of a four year university degree.

My Point: The company says you need a Bachelor's degree to get hired, yet they have hired someone who does not hold one! This is interesting because I wonder if they know this guy has no university degree! Looks a little suspicious....

Neverthless, Good Luck!
