It went very well! Lasted about 45 minutes and I was very impressed by the depth of questioning. It was refreshing to give answers to a person who seemed genuinly interested in your expertise and not so concerned about just finding a warm body that met the profile.
Are all Japanese interviewers this professional? Anyway, I've been wanting to go to Japan since I began my EFL career years ago and it looks like I'm finally getting the chance.
Perhaps, I too, will one day enter the promised land!
Cheers! |

I can't help feeling that there's a disappointment on the way...
the promised land... maybe I've been here too long. Is it that bleak out there beyond our borders? |

All I can say is that you should visit Korea if you want to feel a whole lot better about your current situation. |

It's nice to be excited.
I hope your experience will, indeed, meet your expectations.
You asked:

In a nutshell: NO.
But I think probably, in your heart of hearts, you would have guessed that, no? |

Good for you. I hope you get the job. As someone who has taught in Korea and Japan, I can say thet Japan is so much better. Promised Land would be getting a little carried away though.
I think it is easy to take your job for granted once you get settled into a routine. We have to remember there are lots out there who`d replace us in a minute. |

Thanks for your comments! I've heard this from others. Japan is like a 'new Eden' compared to Korea. For me, it's not so much the job situation in Korea that is negative (I think I've had some good jobs), but the life outside of work. And, it's really getting worse these days. It will be nice to go to a country where you aren't threatened on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to it. |

Ah, coming from Korea. Point taken. No questions asked.
...though as Japan seems to be one of a series of promised lands available to exiles from Korea, I'd encourage "a promised land" rather than "the promised land".
I guess from your posts that you must be approaching the Jordan (aka Japan Sea/Korean Sea). When you get here, don't forget to drive out the Canaanites good and proper or they'll give you hell during your whole stay here |
