Shirt and tie is fine in Quito. I'm in Guayaquil this week, though, and am seeing a more casual outlook. Probably because it is unbelievably hot...
And there is nothing daft looking about wearing a tie to teach kiddies. Just be quick, or they'll grab hold and try to swing on it. Weeeee!
But honestly, different schools vary so much, even in the same town. If you have a job lined up, as your supervisor how you should dress. If you don't have a job, ask several directors in your city of choice.
Best,

which is likely why we'll never see you in a bored room (pun intended) of any Fortune 500 corporation, nor will most students or employers take you very seriously... unless of course you are referring to your beach attire. |
actually this is what I normally wear outside of work.
Before I left my previous job it was a professional work place. Dress shirt and Slacks. However.... it's not something that I look forward to. I'd prefer to wear something a bit more casual. |

| Tianjin, China. Primary and Middle School. I can wear practically anything I want to except for sandals or shorts. Though my standard fare is jeans or slacks with a dress shirt, no tie. |

| I find it really easy to dress well in the winter and no so easy in the summer. In hot weather I usually end up wearing something like a little strappy dress or tank top and skirt, and then covering up with a blazer or light cardigan when I enter the school or an office. A lot of the stuff I wore for in-company work in Italy would probably get me fired now that I'm doing K-12 in Canada, though. Today I wore a tank top with dress pants and covered up with a blazer when I got to school. As I was putting on my blazer I looked in the mirror and thought, "Is that too much cleavage for thirteen-year-old boys?" Even with the jacket I was paranoid all day about bending over to help anyone with their work! |
