Have certain members of the opposite sex begun behaving differently towards you recently?
Have you suddenly started receiving emails from members of the opposite sex that you haven't spoken to in a long time? |

Funny you should mention that. There is a pub that I hang out in in Sagamiono that has a pretty wicked selection of international beers. Its a straight up pub not a hostess bar or pick up joint and I have gotten to know the girls working the bar pretty well.
I courted one for like 2 months, taking her out and what not. When the time came to make the move she totally froze up on me, stopped returning my emails, so I figured "Ok, I read that one wrong". Last night, which just happens to be about 4 months from when she stopped talking to me, I ran into her at a local Okonomiyaki place. She practically shoves her friend out of a chair to a make room me and the minute I sit down she is all touchy feely. Shame I was just there to meet a buddy and then heading off to a futsol game but it was definatly wierd.
Japanese girls have either a very intricate courting ritual or an uncanny ability to forget just how bad they have played all the men in their lives. |

Well, you say it is funny I mention that. But somehow I think that this is no accident. 'Tis the season to be jolly! |

Well Yawarakaijin, I hate to be the synic, but I always am anyway. I think Japanese girls have a tendency to forget their previous moves. Actually, I don't think they really forget them, they want you to forget them when they are lonely or desparate as in the current mating season. Now they have a little free time, and the weather is getting nicer. I guess you might as well take advantage of it, but I certainly wouldn't take that type seriously in the long run. |

Isn't it obvious? It's got little to do with Spring in the air -- it's got everything to do with buttering up the boys so they can get a return on their Valentine's Day investment of expensive chocolates and other goodies.
White Day is March 14th ya know..... |

The only thing I have noticed about spring so far is
1) Allergies suck
and
2) It didn't snow all winter and now that it's MARCH it decides to snow?!?! |

Maybe it's because you're too busy teaching an an intensive communication course, helping your students improve their bottom-up listening skills by teaching them about the suprasegmental aspects of English phonology, using video clips and authentic materials to help the students develop their top-down listening skills, by having them focus on context, and using their knowledge of grammar to make educated guesses about what they are trying to hear while focusing on productive skills, teaching your students communication strategies, like appealing for help from the interlocutor, or pausing to gain processing time...EVERY lesson, until the students can use them with a high degree of automaticity, while patting yourself on the back because you had to design your own syllabus and course materials. |
