Has anyone used this before?
Basically, you have to give the ticket to the attendant at the staffed gate, not automatic one as you normally would.
You're only allowed to to ride on the local and rapid local trains. Once you pass the ticket gate, who's to stop you from getting on the express train (non-reserved seat, of course)? Maybe not Nozomi, but kyuko and tokkyu? And at the destination, they just check your stamp, right? |

They may see you get off the train or check your ticket on the train. It depends on the station and the place. I used it many years ago and recall getting my ticket checked many times, but then it was a 12 hr trip.
If caught, they may take away your ticket and then you'd be up the creek.
Up to 5 people can use the tickets too, not just one, but then they'd use up the 5 tickets. It's a good deal if you have the time. |

I just used this this winter. normally it'S 11,00 yen but this spring its 8000 yen. good deal. My friend and I used it to get from Kumagaya, Saitama to Osaka, I great deal if you have a lot of time. Since Shinakansens have an additional gate it is next to impossible to get through. but to ride the Tokkyu will all depend on the train. they usually check to see if you are a paying ticket holder, but I have heard of some dodging the ticket inspector. |

I won't even try to use the shinkansen but I've used the tokkyu many times without having my regular fare ticket inspected (always non-reserved), so I thought I'd give it a try with this pass. I have time-- Osaka to Nagoya is fine, but Nagoya to Tokyo might be too long a stretch for me. How long is it by kaisoku? |
