Hi I will be in China to study for a tefl coursre. I will be there for about a month. The course recommended that I apply for an F visa for the class (business seminar) ...... but i already had a multiple entry tourist visa that was good for the year. So i didn't apply for the F visa...... would that be a problem?

Technically, you are on slippery ground but I think you need not fear "studying" on a tourist visa for just one month.

The litmus test is: do you want to accept a position in China after completing your course?

If so, you would have to think about the visa issue from a different perspective!

I wouldn't think that it would be that difficult to get the recommended visa. Why risk having a problem for such a little outlay. The school will probably have to register you with the local police as soon as you get here for a start. They need your passport for this.

I don't see it as being an issue studying on a tourist visa. It is, after all, only for a month and probably run by a foreign company offering it as a short-term part-time seminar rather than full-time schooling at a Chinese public school. There is no need for a RP since the OP's L visa is good for a year.

As far as registering at the PSB goes, any and every foreigner needs to be registered in China when we land and stay in a town/city anyway (or so we are SUPPOSED to).
