first, yes, it is true i quit. i have never ever in my life walked away from a job in a second. and this after ragging about professionalism on this forum. i went home and thought and dwelt and read the comments on dave's. thank you very much to so many of you for your supportive comments. to be truthful, i did not expect it after all the kaka thrown at me here. i had other supportive messages and calls, which i also did not expect as i was beginning to feel i really was the dragon people were making me out to be. certainly not a trollop howmuchareetc.
however, i have decided to give it another shot. this is a critical point at ET with the new books and the changing of interlang to ET. i have been a pivot at ET for many years, why i often wonder. but at this point i feel the responsibility to do what i can to support this transition, for the school and especially for the teachers. it makes me tired to think of it, frankly, and i hope it is the last push before retirement.
even during the few days that i had quit, i did not feel that ET is a bad school. some people love to hate it, and some who post here who used to work for ET do not understand that it, like other large organizations, is in a constantly shifting state. i think it has had ups and downs, just like people do. but i don't believe it is bad or evil or malicious. capricious, frustrating, and stressful are more the words that come to my mind...
i know to some people i personify ET and for that reason i often wear a kevlar vest... some people who post so negatively about me don't even know me. olsun. i know who i am, i know i don't lie, i am not a tool. people who do know me know that i speak directly, often with a salty tongue. i am willing to go to bat for people and ideas i believe in.
as for my qualifications, fyi, i have 25 years of teaching experience in 3 countries, 9 of them here. i have a masters degree in adult ed/ESL and i also trained to be a french teacher. i'm a mother (teachers at the taksim 1 branch know about when i go on mother duty-- shave, iron your clothes, etc, sweetened with banana bread or cookies). i have set up 5 language programs in 3 countries. i have taught at language schools, community colleges, and universities. i have set up and run several conferences for teachers. etc etc. so i feel quite qualified to be the director of english time or any other language program.
as for david, to stem the gossip, we are going to work together very well. we both bring certain things and styles and we are learning what those are and where they can fit in.
so things change abruptly. i sure hope they get to normal soon, whatever that is. |

| I imagine most of your friends are long term Turkey TEFLers whereas almost all ET Turkey TEFLers are newbies. |

I'm justme and I've never worked at ET. I worked at pre-ET Interlang, and we all know how that turned out.
Or, at least I know how that turned out.
Ağızını sağlık, Molly, or whatever you say when it's typed not spoken...
And again, good luck. |
