I'm looking for teaching work in Poland starting the end of June. I'm aware that the regular school year will have ended, but I have heard about classes and camps for older children that run during the summer. Has anyone worked for any of these camps, and, if so, what was your experience? Also, do regular schools close down in the summer? I looked through this forum and haven't seen much about this. I also plan to stay on in Poland for at least the next school year.

Bell runs summer camps near Gdansk. I hear they are a good time, if not all that well paying.

This has reminded me of paulmanser; we never did hear how he did in his precious summer camp, working for free.

Schools that teach ages up to 18 are generally shut down for the summer, but schools that cater for adults often run special summer classes; the sooner you tell a school you're available for the work, the more likely they are to put together a summer package for their clients. Do that, and pick up a few Matura-failure-retake kids, and you can get yourself by, but it's still a bit tight if it's your first year here.

Summer camps are summer camps. You're a babysitter, looking after the precious offspring whilst the parents catch up on their lovelife for two weeks. I've not done it myself, but I've seen the faces of teachers who have. Very "You don't know man, you weren't there. You ain't got the stare, man - the 1000 yard stare..."

I have done it the last two years and will probably do it again this summer. Here is the deal- let the Poles run the camp and you teach english. Works for me!

Thanks for your input, all. I've taught older children and actually enjoy it, so I'm not worried about being shellshocked. I know the pay is low, too. That's not an issue for the summer. I'll be looking for good pay for the school year.

If you search the ESL job sites you'll find plenty of summer work advertised just now.

Tak this is Paul Manser. Summer camp Borne sulinowo. Working for free? tak but it was a one off and it was hardly *work*. *(3 hours a day)

I'm going back there this summer after I finish year 1 of my BA degree. This time however, I will be paying NO organisation. I will simply turn up. Experience was great, although boring when my fellow brit friends left since they were there only for 4 weeks.
