Hi,

Has anyone any experience of working for Linguarama? They seem to be offering quite a few jobs out in Italy at the moment.

I had an interview with Linguarama and got the job but I ended up quitting it the same day. I don't know why I agreed to take it. The pay was crap and they wanted me to travel around 45-60 mins each way by train and bus to teach business english to adults for 1.5 hours a day. They don't even pay your travel. It was ridiculous. The school itself in the centre of Rome was nice and modern and the people seemed nice but the teachers themselves did not seem overly friendly and I asked whether I could plan my lessons there. The guy said yes but the room was tiny and there was only one computer to share between everyone. I thought the guy who interviewed me was a bit manipulative and didn't really answer my questions. He really talked a lot but I got the feeling he couldn't just be straight with me. It wasn't until I walked out of there that I realised what I had agreed to. There are many other schools in the city where you get paid more and don't have to pay to travel to businesses so although Linguarama is well connected throughout Europe, I'd give it a miss.

Before all my teachers start clearing their desks and packing up to move to Linguarama... is that before tax or after?

I don't know about any of that. I did get referred from the London office to the Rome office and the London office were very professional and helpful. Each centre can basically do whatever it likes though and the pay is at their discretion on a case by case basis. Good luck.
