Dear Forum Members,

Although I realize that this forum is primarily for ESL/EFL teachers, I thought I'd give it a go nonetheless:

I am thinking about applying for a job as Counselor for the HCT. I hold a BA (hons) and a MA and have three years of relevant experience. Any advise on the monthly pay I should expect/put on my application?

Best,
J

Afaik, a counselor is categorised as "non-teaching faculty" and the salary scale is the same as for faculty. You could therefore expect to earn something between 9-12,000 Dhs/month (possibly plus 6% - I'm not sure how the recent salary "bonuses" have affected starting salaries). Also not sure exactly how the starting point on the scale for a counselor would be calculated; with only 3 years' relevant experience as a teacher, this would put you nearer the bottom end than the top end, but this may be different for a counselor.

Good luck!

The student councelors I know are all ex faculty who speak Arabic and were seconded to counseling. If the system is now employing qualified councelors, things might - and should - be different. Not very helpful but it might give you some leverage at interview.
