Hi everyone
I'm pretty much sure i'll be movng to Saudi (Jubail) by April. I do have some questions.
Has anyone been ona desert trek in this area? That's one of the key reason why I'm moving out (my love for the desert)
Also will I be aloud to bring aftershave? (CK1)
Is cotton the best kind of clothing for the climate there?
Would appreciate any feedback!
Cheers |

I am definitely not the best person to answer your questions. I lived in Kuwait for a few years many years ago, and I loved it. Have never been to more than an airport in Saudi Arabia, however.
The desert of the Arabian Peninsula, as far as I have seen flying overhead while working for Kuwait Airways ... well, if I was interested in ecosystems, etc., it would not be the most interesting. Not like the desert in Nevada. There is a reason they call a huge area of the Arabian Peninsula "The Empty Quarter" .. because it is. Nothing much lives there. Just vast expanses of nearly empty sands. Other than that, just viewed as "nature" in a more generic sense, it has its surrealistic charms, which I understand. For starkness it can't be beat. The area around Jubail I am not familar with, and it may be different. Can't imagine more than 6 species living in an square mile of the places I have visited, though.

This made me laugh. I guess I will find out the reason for your question when someone else answers. Is there a possibility that someone might want to drink it?

If you are interested in the very coolest, linen wins hands down. But cotton will probably have to do, especially if you are male. |

I'm also a desert lover. It's one of the few things they do well here (the others are coffee and baclava. And Exit-Only visas.)
I don't know about Jubail but I'm sure you'll be able to find some good places to go walking, see some camels, and enjoy the absolute silence. You might also be able to find people going on weekend and overnight 'safaris.' |
