Hi girls,

I was at For You recently and found a nice selection of women's products. Namely tampons in various sizes inluding slim and regular. They also carry vitamins and health food like muesli and have a decent cosmetics section.

P.S. Watch out for the ladies who remove hair with string. Had my eybrows plucked recently. Before I could say anything she had removed all of the hair (yes, even the blonde micro fine babyhair on my forehead with a piece of string....very painful and unnecessary) off of my face.

Wink

I've had a good laugh this morning! This post was supposed to be in the new girls room. I guess I clicked Post NEW topic ha ha ha....I was in a hurry.

How fabulous - I feel almost rebellious posting a topic called Tampons! Next week I'll be burning my bra in Taksim next to the giant posters celebrating women.

Dagi, they are a new chain and seem to be popping up everywhere. There is one in Taksim nowadays. It's near the square a block or two down the hill on the dolmus side of things.

Well Sheikh - I can understand your level of enthusiasm for the topic, but it just goes to show that men (who use far more toilet paper than women) can't possible understand why wearing a pad is just so....disgusting sometimes. I don't know about anyone else, but I got fed up with wearing diapers a long time ago. As far as toilet paper is concerned, Selpak makes the softest toilet paper.

I am in the office with my Turkish fiance. I have just asked him what tampon means in Turkish. He took a brochure to demonstrate, 'this is car' and 'here tampon'
'Which is the tampon?' I say as the brochure is not really car-shaped.

'We have front tampon and back tampon.' Mmmm painful!

"Tampon" can generally mean a thing that can absorbe something. There is also a certain type of printing called "tampon printing" and in the engeneering world there are a few tampon thingies, too.

The word 'tampon' used to refer to the sanitary product was originally used as a neutral euphemism, inasmuch as it is something that absorbs something else.

so there.

here's a joke:

what's red and only comes out at nights?

a sanitary owl.

*sprints for the door, grabbing coat while avoiding handbags flung by the lady members of the thread, and the sprayings of various drinks as the gentlemen of the thread splutter with laughter*
