Will I be able to attain a work visa in countries that require a bachelors degree with an on-line bachelors degree? I will be receiving my bachelors degree in Fine arts from an accredited on-line university so any info on possible problems with that will be appreciated.

Not likely if it is a "life experience" degree as you have stated elsewhere.

If we're talking about the US then the school needs to be regionally accredited.

There are accredited schools that grant 'life experience' credit but that's a bit of a misnomer. They typically grant credit for things like real estate licenses or computer industry certifications. I gained something like 18 credits from the various computer certifications that I had...they were applied as electives toward my business (MIS) degree.

Those credits when combined with CLEP, DANTES, and Excelsior college exams can lead to finishing a degree much faster than sitting in classes.

I went to Excelsior College, which happens to be in Albany!

The only caveat that I'll mention is that most academics do look down their noses at any type of online education. At the moment there is only one place that does not recognize online degrees and that is Taiwan.

Out of curiousity, when you take your degree mill degree overseas will any schools really know the difference? I mean, clearly this guy doesn't see any academic or personal value to getting a degree, it's just about a piece of paper that opens employment doors. Is someone in rural China going to know that University of Cardboard in Tissue Paper, USA isn't a real school?

No and he could go there without one (I already told him that on one of his other threads). If he wants to work in Korea (they will check the degree) or any of the better countries then taking the time to finish a bachelors at an easy school would be a lot smarter.

It really wouldn't take more than a year of effort to get through two 'years' of undergraduate credit in a program like Excelsior (or one of the other 'degree completion' schools that have popped up all over the place). An average person can save $1k/month in Korea from all reports...the degree would pay for itself in a year. That's an unbeatable return, imo.

Most likely yes.

And there is nothing wrong with an online degree. They will become the wave of the future, opening equality to all people. Some people with a bachelor don't like this, they lose the exclusivity and power it has given them in society. It will be good when education is not only available to a select few (when you consider even in our home countries, having post secondary education is not very common).

Ofcourse, it needs to be better regulated to close all the degree mills.

Considering that in the US and UK the proportion of those gettting bachelor degrees is between 30-50%, I see little exclusivity, let alone power.

Online, true. "Life experience", no.

No problem, there are many to choose from. Walden will give you an APA-approved degree in counseling psychology with low residency. In reality a lot of the online schools have no campus and the residencies are done at hotel-based conferences.

Dating? Drunken debauchery? I've heard stories.

I wish I could have had the residential college experience but the financial situation never worked out for me. I spent 10 years, on and off, working toward my bachelors. It had to be fit into my work schedule and that's a lot more practical with online classes.

Yes, dating, promiscuity, and drunken debauchery are things you may have missed. (Though you may have found them elsewhere- who am I to know?)

I enjoyed my years (on campus) in college. But what I did then has nothing to do with what I do now, and a great deal of my teacher training has been non-conventional short courses. And now I'm looking at a distance MA...

May not be the same as an onsite course, but I'll bet they don't give credit for life experience...

Best,
Justin

Agreed, Excelsior College, formerly Regent's External Degree Program, is the best degree completion program out there. The DSST and CLEP exams can be taken through many US Embassy education offices. The price is right as well.
