JIC are in the process of laying off dozens of native speakers to be replaced with Indian instructors on 3,000 Riyals per month.

Really? I guess it had to happen sometime. I wonder if the floodgates will now open now?

There might still be some Westerners out there prepared to come here for SR3000. Going by the decline in real wages for teflers in KSA over the last 20-30 years it's not inconceivable.

This is Globalization of economy! So I think the Saudis are using the concept of Globalization to hire English teachers from all over the world! Laughing

I think from what I have seen in this part of the world, the SUPPLY in English Teachers is much bigger than the DEMAND, thats why at present and unfortunately, the native English teachers are like the Dollar, sometimes up and most of the time down, and now they are in the lower scale of the profession!

May be a change on the profession may help LOL. Laughing

Dmb, try to change your profession to a Maths teacher, I think the SUPPLY is Less than the DEMAND Laughing

To which process you have no doubt exclusive insider information since it appears that nobody yet knows who is having their contract renewed or not, nor is there any news of the new Indian hirings.

This does not really concern JIA.The blue fact is that the nemesis the delphic oracle at Jubail Industrial College has been warning of for many months has now come to pass.
The knives are out.The Brown Nose Boys hands are red with innocent blood.

The details are in the contracts issued by the RC.
Anyway, although Steve Jones is one of the finest people you could possibly meet, why is he so determined to defend the Brown Nose Brits at the Jubail Industrial College who knifed him after he recruited and mentored most of them?

So you are saying that some staff have not been renewed? Is that only the staff who received a D for the annual evaluation, or does it apply to others?

For the record, I am certain that no Western colleague was responsible for my renewal being rescinded at JIC last year.

Purge?

Details please.

As an ex-JIC employee who left of his own accord three weeks ago, I saw no evidence of a 'purge'.

Of those who won't be returning, three, including myself decided not to renew their contracts, the other four did not have their contracts renewed for various reasons.

If anything there's a staff shortage.

JIC are finding it increasingly difficult to attract native speakers, not because the package they offer is any less attractive than that offered by similar institutions, but because potential applicants are being put off by the ramblings of Mr. Joyce et al.

Perhaps he's confused a purge with teachers leaving on their summer holidays!!!!
