Hiding from the maddening crowds who are about to converge on the beach, and finding alternate driving routes to move around the city. It's a scary time of year here! |

I would like to go away from the beach to the mountains, but I just blew 8000 pesos on a plane ticket and 3000 pesos on an enrollment fee for a course... so I'll be staying here and trying to sneak off to one of the more secluded beaches here. |

My mum arrives tonight! Then off to Guanajuato for a few nights, Easter in the city and then four nights in Playa Ventura....can't wait! No better feeling than soft sand between the toes! Course there's no worse feeling than sand between.... |

I am done today......at 12:15. OK, that's about 23 minutes away. I am off for two weeks. Working in a private school (a elementary/middle school, not a language school) has its perks. Oh....yeah, I get my two weeks of vacation pay today, too! |

Chiapas for me. Palenque and then some camping in the jungle followed by the beach for 3 or 4 days. Seems to have taken an eternity for this break to arrive. |

Chiapas too! However, I cant find my bank card (the Canadian one, with the money). I have a feeling I will be trading in my hotel rooms for a hammack and palapas, rickshaws, and selling tamales to get enough money to go from one city to another... could be the adventure of a lifetime, or a recipe for malaria and dangue fever |

Ahh, to be unincumbered!
I hope you all enjoy the trips, Chiapas is wonderful, I'm so jealous!
But Samizihnha, remember that much of it is too cold for malaria, and there for hammacks, take a sweater for San Cristobal and the Lagunas de Monte Bello.
Semana Santa is a great time to be in el defectoso (DF). I'd love to go there too.
Rather than Guanajuato, I think Queretaro has a more interesting Easter Celebration, they have a silent procession which is very impressive and an outstanding photo op. I they also do great buring of the Juduses in Queretaro. I'd love to go there again at Easter time.
And I haven't been to the beach in ages! (Well since September).
I'm going to be working on the house and taking care of the tots. |

Chiapas!!! We are doing the loop Palenque, Bonampak, Yaxchilan, Lagos de Montebello, Chincultuc, Comitan and maybe if we have time San Cris and Tuxtla. If not, San Cris and Tuxtla will be on another weekend.
Can't wait to be in the cool weather!! I haven't worn a sweater in 12 months!!! |

Ohh Danielita I'm sure you'll have a great time, the Lagos de Montebello are amazing, are you camping there? I highly recommend it as it is most beautiful just after dawn. It's also a great place for horseback riding. The ruins of Chilcuntik are just a few kilometers down the road on the way to Comitan. That was one of my favorite ruins ever, probably because there was no one else there, and that with it's partially excavated state made it feel like I was really "discovering" an ancient city. For a photo see http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=336008&page=2
Also, have you been to San Cristobal before? If not I highly recommend you make time for it, especially if you like textiles! I've been longing to make another pilgrimage to San Cristobal myself for a long time, especially now that I have a digital camera, the place is sooo photogenic. |

Chiapas is popular this year. I'm going to the southern Pacific Coast of Chiapas south of Puerto Arista. What about crowds and traffic? Is it like a like a long holiday weekend anywhere else? Are hotels and food more expensive? |

hi y'all haven't been around for awhile...
i'm totally escaping the beach, haulling a** to some cooler weather in DF.
its been brutally hot in zipolite, 36 in the shade every day. i can't even iomagine how may's gonna be.
arrived this morning on the new super delux overnighter (estrella blanca, super wide seats, only 24 on a bus-a bit expensive but worth every penny).
and now im in supreme bliss just being able to walk the streets without breaking into torrents of sweat and a heat rash.
cool weather rules. |
