I'm not a SAIT student, and I don't work on the campus most of the time, but I know there are some four-year programs in things like information technology and computer sciences, so in my mind it qualifies as a uni.
Basically, I suppose it's semantics, and I stand to be corrected. I am essentially just distinguishing SAIT from private language schools and private 'colleges' like Bow Valley or Mount Royal (both of which have good reputations, so far as I know). |

SAIT is not a university. It is a technical college. It is publicly funded.
Mount Royal is soon to be an official publicly funded university, going beyond the community college step.
Bow Valley is a community college at the low end of the scale, most upgrading etc.
None of the above are privately funded. They are all govt-funded. |

Rats. It was much easier to simply write 'uni' on the forum. I suppose now, not to be considered misleading, I have to write 'technical college.' Takes much more time... |

Sigh. Still not as succinct as 'uni.' Any other non-misleading options, anyone? |
