Hey there, currently teaching in Bangkok and have been searching for the past 2+ weeks for a gig in Korea and have pretty much had it with trying to find something reputable. Read many posts of horror stories in that country. As one guy put it, "finding a good school here is a crap shoot." So, here's my question. How are things in Taiwan? ie. salary, apts, benefits, overall teaching conditions etc.

thanks in advance

glenn

I'd be very interested to hear you say the same thing in 3-6 months. But congrats all the same.

Glenn,

Good for you.

You'll be making more money in Korea than you would in Taiwan.

Average salary here is NT $50,000 - $60,000.

However, TEFL'ers in Korea are making up to NT $100,000 - $150,000.

You've also got the prettier girls, the kimchi, beer-drinking culture, easier language to learn, and the long, cold winters.

All in all, Not a bad deal, IMO.

Just as long as you know what you're getting yourself into.

Have fun and enjoy banking all that cash while working with all those pretty Korean girls!
