From another source I recieved a job anouncement for the Universidad de Oriente (UNO) in Vallodolid, Yucatan. The pay is pretty good and they seem to be flexible on qualifications. PM me if you want the full ad. |

Many people pmed me about this job, a could of mentioned that they applied, but I was wondering if anything every came of any of it?
I'm not sure if I should ad the contact to the Mexican job links or not. From the looks of it they will have a growing need for teachers over the next several years.

i had a phone interview with them a week ago, and i felt like it went pretty well. the woman told me that she would be sending me an email telling in detail what the job responsibilities would be and the salary and so on. i haven't gotten the email yet, so i'm not really sure. |

I just joined this forum in the hope of connecting with others who will be teaching at Universidad de Oriente in Valladolid, and with those of you are teaching in Merida and Quintana Roo.
I accepted a job at UNO last month, and will be heading down for a few weeks in June to investigate housing and visit the school before the move in August. Does anybody have any advice on housing?
I've been going to Quintana Roo about twice a year for the past several years and have made friends with some people who work in the tourism industry. Last June, I attended a baptism and party in Valladolid, but the only other time I was there was in 1991 for a few days. Melee's description of living there sounds very much like I have imagined. And yes, it is hot and humid.
Browniea, it took awhile for my post-interview email as well. |

I inquired but decided against it, only because I have a home in Merida and it would be too complicated. Best of luck to those who are following up. It sounds like an interesting opportunity.
Saludos,

UNO has offered me the job, but I am still unsure as to whether or not I will take it. In the email they didnt address salary or vacation time, and I emailed asking about those things and still have yet to hear from them. I know it is a slow process. I am also wondering about Valladolid, if I would enjoy living there. Maestra, can you give me any more information from what you've heard from the school, that would help me make my decision? And as you have atleast been to Valladolid, what is the town like? I have never been to the Yucatan, and have been living in Guadalajara...so it will be a very big change. |
