Ah, speaking a language and being literate in it are two different things...I can discuss Japanese literature in Japanese, but I couldn't fluently read a critical text about it...

Zeeeroo....and I do not see that improving much. Gotta work & at home I am tired to study...wanna read some newspapers instead to see what's going on in the world.

So woted for: "I just point at stuff and grunt".

I guess I gotta find some good reason in terms of japanese female to learn for. Cool

Ooh...I think so. I met Jackie Chan once, when he came to Melbourne, he visited my humble shop. Yay!

konnichiwa, konbanwa, ohayo gozaimos, onegai shimasu, ja arimasen, eiga, eigakan, ichi - ju-ichi, kara, made, desu, ka, ne, inu, hanbaga (and anything else originally English), to, o, no, wa, ii tenki, iya-na tenki, samui, atsui, ashita, gogo, koyo, iie, hai, -san, -chan, -ji, nan-ji, han, asa, mo onegai (I think that's a phrase), irraishaimase (something like that), ima, gaijin, nihon/nippon, kissaten, and a few others. That was fun review.

I used to know katakana and hiragana, but have since forgotten it. I'm more focused on speaking right now anyway. Speaking of which, I should practice some more...

Hey thanks, I try Smile I did a lot of travel recently when the seishun kippu (cheap JR tickets) were available, so I was able to get around the place for about 1500Y per day. I always stay in youth hostels too so that helps keep costs down. I'm sure it helps that I am in Kansai so there are a lot of really cool things to see and do relatively 'locally'.
