Ok, it was 5 years ago I worked at Bilgi but I thought the students and the management were fine. I still bump into a few people who work there and their only complaint is that the summer holidays are shorter.

When I worked there people complained about the things that yaramaz has mentioned. none of it bothered me though. People have different ideas about how places should be and how places should be run.

I am sticking up for Bilgi here as my (second) oldest friend in Istanbul is now number 2 at Bilgi. I worked with him in a management position at 2 different places and know that he is very good at his job and sticks up for the teachers if they don't spend all day b*tching about their jobs.

Yaramaz, I can guess which friend you are talking about. She has been there for 6 years(more?) If it is that bad why has she stayed for so long?

I also have friends who have been there for 7ish years and would not dream of leaving- it is a centrally located uni with reasonable hours and gives them time to spend evenings and weekends with their spouses and kids- each to their own

(I'm not picking on yaramaz just pointing out what is utter crap is for some people is good for others.)

Dmb, tisn't your friend who was a problem- he's lovely and sane and really stood up for teachers. I was thinking about the B�y�k Peynir, the bump in the horizontal hierarchy...

It's different for everyone who works there. Some people have no problems because they slip under the radar somehow, others have constant stress. In my office, some people were close to snapping from the stress and uncertainty. You never felt like your job was safe from one day to the next.

My unnamed friend is still there after 5 years, yes, but I cant tell you how she felt about being there because I am not her and her job was not mine (she was a position holder and only taught a few hours a week). I can tell you that she is very happy to be out of prep.

I can only speak for my own experience and from what I heard.

I was actually quite happy there until midway through the year when the energy suddenly changed.
