Hi,
I have been offered a position in Kuwait and would like to take my Persian cat with me from Oman.
I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this and let me know how long the process could take. I have done some reseach on this and found some things out but would like to hear from anyone who has actually done this.
Thanks. |

I took my cats with my to Kuwait from Canada. I contacted the Kuwait Embassy in Ottawa and they told me I wouldn't require any special paperwork. So I took them. When I got there I found that the information given me was incorrect. They require a permit. Anyway the official veterinarian at the airport did it all for me and I don't remember having to pay. The cats were microchipped and vaccinated for everything (including rabies) and I had the papers for that. They flew with KLM through Amsterdam and they arrived in excellent condition. I picked them up in the baggage area - they had been delivered there (not down the chute).
You will not be able to take your cat back to the UK without quarantine or doing the pet passport. Maybe you can do the pet passport before you leave Kuwait and keep the vaccinations up to date? Check that out. You would still have to do six months in one of the countries on the approved list before re=entering the UK.
There is a good vet hospital accross from the Friday market. |

I know a number of people who have taken dogs and cats into Kuwait with minimal hassle. No one has ever had their animals quarantined. Check with embassies, airlines and local vets to learn the latest rules...
