It doesn't even matter, you do not address the issues within my post even though it was obviously a powerful one. I concluded that either you are one of two people:
1) A Japanese
2) A relative newcomer to Japan
If you are one of the above then it is unlikely that you have any clue what I am talking about. If you are not one of the above then you must be that "wannabe Japanese gaijin" that I see all to often. Whichever way you spin it at the end of the day Japan is no more than a third-world country with good electronics and efficient workers .......... |

I made an assumption about your final destination. Forgive me if I'm mistaken regarding that issue.
Have a nice day. |

Wouldn't that make it 3-0?
Summary:
BOBBY321's racist rant = 1
No = 2
No = 3
He is obviously a troll. I wouldn't pay any more attention to him. |

RACIST RANT : how does what I said become a racist rant, it is merely my opinion of Japan. The blatant lack of knowledge you possess is funny, how the hell could what I said be a racist rant - I have a funny suspicion you are a Canadian EY, whats that EY ? ...... the comedy ..... |

O.K: As foreigners in Japan we are expected by society to try and adapt to Japanese life, following Japanese behaviours from simple things such as using chopsticks to more complex things such as working way past the stated time. We are also expected and quite rightly, to learn the Japanese language. Even when a person completely makes the conscious effort to adapt to Japan and its culture even to the point of speaking fluent Japanese (as I do), we are then passed off as simply GAIJIN, who could not possible match-up to the high moral and cultural values set by the almightly Japanese.
We are expected to jump hoops in the hope of acceptance but then we are excluded on the basis of "he's just a foreigner" which equates to "you could never understand as WE are Japanese and you are NOT"....
What then is the motivation for a foreigner to be in Japan for more than a few years ? ...... I am bitter and I resent myself for staying too long, but I am trying to stay true to who I am and what I believe is fair regardless of race and religion..... Being told to get out of a barbers shop because "we don't cut white peoples hair" is not fair... being attacked on a train by a drunk guy because my kids are "mongrels" for having a Japanese mother is not fair, the city refusing to acknowledge me on my families register is not fair.... the list goes on and on and on...... and even after all this Japanese still expect me to conform..... for what purpose I ask ?
Ask any Korean, Chinese, Ainu or other minority group living in Japan, or better still just read the UN report MISSION TO JAPAN which states that "Japan is infested with xenophobic attitudes at all levels"...........
Still love Japan ? |

I thought this thread was about J-pop.
In Japan, I've never been harmlessly enjoying myself in a club and been punched in the face for no reason, like I have in England. Or, for that matter, had perfectly nice and easygoing friends put in hospital by yobs simply for saying they supported a different football team. Therefore, I'm prepared to forgive it.
While personally I think a lot of what Bobby321 said is true, but if your hatred runs so deep you should perhaps consider bailing out of Japan and bringing up your family in another country rather than sticking it out and hating every minute of it.
If you don't like where you live, rather than expecting the attitudes of 120m people (whether right or wrong) to change, perhaps you should go somewhere else where you'll be happier with the cultural attitudes you find around you.
Best of luck. |

I could not agree more, I am well into my great escape. I know exactly what your saying about the UK, out at a pub, smash, glass in your face because you looked some guy in the eye at the wrong time.......
BUT. I find this blatant and senseless aggression easier to deal with than being denied basic civil rights whilst everyone around you pretends that you do not exist except when they want a free English lesson.
I have often thought about Singapore as an alternative, I do like Asia but the exclusion and loneliness that can be inflicted in Japan is hard to deal with, the Japanese can be (intentionally and unintentionally) very cruel. I fear for my kids future growing up in such a country.
Also on the crime point. Japan has so many seemingly bizarre crimes stemming from repression, collectivism and family relations that border on incest, stalkers, flashers, chopping family members up, stabbings, murders,gang crime and of course inbred corporate coruption on a mountainous scale.
It seems easier to class all Japanese as SIMILAR in basic mentality which makes it all the more worrying, yes of course the UK has its nutters but they really do not represent even a small portion of the general population. |

I also agree with alot of what you have said and it must be very frustrating/gutting to have experienced what you have, - with children.
I know some people (gaijin) who seem to cope with the way things are for them over here, ie. the `yes you can do/ join in this` and then, `Oh no, sorry, suddenly you`re a foreigner and can`t do that` kind of attitude .. I guess people have different levels of tolerance for the degree of assimilation they experience ... ?
All the best.
peace out |
