I will be getting married to my Jp girl next year. I am trying to work out what work i could do in Japan as i will be moving there. Teaching english is obvious but i dont have any qualifications; no degree, no CELTA. i have had some experience teaching kung fu but that is about it. I believe i would enjoy teaching english and do well at it given the opportunity.
I would like to know if it is possible to get a job there with no teaching skill/qualifications and minimal language skill.
I have sent emails to NOVA & amity and they replied saying that i need a degree. This is kind of making me nervous.
Is there anyone who can give me some advice on what to do. I have a year to organise myself. |

If you have a valid visa, spousal in your case then you can work in any field that you like.
Your biggest probelm will be getting the company to hire you, without experience or a degree.
You do not need any teaching experience if you work with Nova or the likes, this also applies to ALT work. These companies will hire you, without a degree.
These companies are only interested if you have a visa, not a degree. |

Not quite Kendoman.....I know Interac will not hire you without a degree. I have a friend who recently moved here (married) and he would not be even considered for work as an ALT.
I think his best bet is to get a set of ESL books, such as New Interchange, and sign up for every ESL website, and get privates full time.
I can't see him getting hired by 7-11 let alone anywhere else without pretty fluent Japanese.......I'd be nervous too. |

Interac, RCS, JALSS,NEW IEC will hire you for an ALT position if you don't have a degree.
I have several friends that work for the above companies without a degree.
These companies only concern is if you have a valid visa. OP if you need some more info, write me a PM. |

Thanks for your help here. I am finding it somewhat confusing though i prefer to read what Kendoman1 has to say because that is what i want to hear.
Any further input would be most welcome.
