Hey,

Further to a great post on resumes from Hamish i've a question i'd appreciate some help with regarding work employment history. Having had a fairly wide ranging past in regards to employment, i am unsure as to how much of this to include on an application. Obviously when applying for jobs in the U.K it is generally accepted that giving a continuous chronological record of employment is better than having gaps, but some of my past positions are completely irrelevant. Six months spent as a security guard ejecting pre-pubescent ferals from a near abandoned warehouse doesn't really paint me in the best light does it? However as a typical 31 year old male a certian degree of variation is surely inevitable. Should i leave out the random jobs or include everything from say, the last 5 or ten years?

If you have relevant experience, which doesn't seem to be the case here, just stick to that. In your circumstances, demonstrating employability, adaptability, and possibly resilience, aren't bad things, so put it all in. However, this may be the clincher:

Why not just make 2 sections on your resume -- one for teaching related work, and one for teaching UNrelated work?

I only include Related Experience on my resume. Does anyone really care that I worked at a tanning salon?
