Yes, I'm living proof! I'm American and living/working in Belgium via my Dutch husband. Beware that not all countries in the EU make it easy to bring an accompanying non-EU spouse/partner: the Netherlands, and several Scandinavian countries come to mind. Check with individual member states' immigration websites for details. The consulates may be less than helpful, and can be behind the times in terms of the regs (this happened to us in our process). Initially the Belgian embassy was reluctant to help us, but when I started speaking Dutch and French they warmed up. (I'm more employable than DH.) Since you would be the sponsor and are employable, it shouldn't be as much pf a problem for you. HTH. |
