Not a bad idea, and I think you'd be surprised what would sell. I'd start with handicrafts.

The only thing I care about is the fact that prices haven't risen at all since I've been here. Back home, prices have gone berserk. Forget about saving money at home as inflation is wiping out your savings. Just stay here in Japan.

Not sure what the GBP was at in the summer of 2002, but back then (when I came to Japan the $ CDN was at 76. So if the pound was at 150 then, I'd say you could whine some more with us.

Jim really. Have you never done economics?

No. BSc. Pscyh (with a genetics minor). And Economics was never taught at my high school.

You can buy the D40x Nikkon camera for $320 Cdn cheaper over here than you can in Canada Smile

I'm going home for a vacation in exactly two weeks-any chance of a catastrophic revaluation of the Canadian dollar? Smile

We are still sitting on money and hope to exchange it in America when we go back....I just dont want to lose several hundred dollars...

Sure, I know the future of the yen with certainty. And although I could use such information to grow rich beyond my wildest dreams, I'm going to give it away for free on an ESL chat board. Rolling Eyes

Seriously, Quibby, if you follow financial advice dispensed by strangers on the net, you deserve whatever misfortune befalls you.

It is not like I am going to sell my house and gamble my money with your advice...please...I just wanted to know if anyone knows the short-term future of the yen...perhaps a few months. I know that someone has to know about some prediction calendar...

You are asking the impossible. No one can tell you for sure what will happen in 2 days. I do know the Cdn economy is rolling along and that is almost as much to blame for the currency difference than the yen dropping.

Higher than expected inflation numbers out of Canada this morning... will probably lead to higher interest rate speculation and a boost for the dollar.

This thread is quickly becoming my least favourite of the entire forum. Unbelievable. I really wanted to get back home for 2 weeks this summer but it's looking like somewhere tropical is now in the cards instead.......oh well. Wink

112.84 Wow, disheartening.
