I used to knock off at 9pm, I still felt I had plenty of time to do stuff after work, although often it was close to my apartment because of missing the last train. However, since I was near Kichijoji anyway, I could hang there and take a cab home for about 1200yen any time I liked.

The upside is, you can sleep in any day you want, or get up early and be "productive".
