Wonder if anyone could give info on what ZC City is like. Thinking of moving there from Dongguan. Any help appreciated. |

Not very helpful Mr Al............. :
If you have nothing constructive to say maybe it's better to say nothing.
If anybody out there has some real knowledge of the area I'd be grateful to hear from you.
Would like to know what it's like living there.
Cheers. |

Pepsi-Bones,
Utahloy International School is located in Zeng Cheng; many of the kids commute daily between there and Dongguan by bus. From some foreign teachers who work there and live on campus I know that the school premises are beautiful, however they never spoke about Zeng Cheng itself...I am not sure if there's really much of anything there.
As it's not that far, I would really recommend you make it a day trip and check it out if you are seriously considering moving there. A first-hand experience of the place is so much better anyway and you can get a feel for whether you'd like it there or not, whether it has what you require in terms of apartments, shopping, transportation etc. |

Tongue firmly in cheek, that's really what I meant in my previous post, Pepsi-Bones. |

I thought Utaholoy was in Guangzhou proper; Zengcheng is a city to the east of Guangzhou and not far from Dongguan but within the Guangzhou municipality (same area code and same number plates). I have been there a couple of times; there is a gated community called "Phoenix City" with a school for rich kids; if I remember well the estate is run by Gunagdong Country Garden Company.
But the town itself is minuscule. From the community you can go to Guangzhou Guangdong Hotel on Huanshi Zhonglu in 45 minutes by estate bus.
Unfortunately, you didn't make it clear enough where your Zengcheng is; there are apparently several Zengchengs! Not far from QINGYUAN, some 60 kms north of Guangzhou, is another Zengcheng. It's got different Chinese characters (and I can't remember them); that one is noted for a waterfall (we visited it on an outing). |

Zengcheng is a trash dump. (Here comes Mr. Negative, I know, I know)
There is nothing in the city but a stupid shopping center, it is like an hour and a half away from GZ by bus, also more than an hour away from DG by bus. The locals aren't too friendly.
I spent quite a few time going between here and there by bus in the Spring term of 05. I did a volunteer class at a school that continues to use my picture for advertisement.
I wouldn't work there if I were you. Very little to do and nothing going on there. |

yes there seems to be a Zhengcheng that belongs to Guangzhou. I didn't pay enough attention to the spelling with the "Zh" in the headline...the short form ZC immediately made me think of Zengcheng, where Utahloy is. Solly, Solly
Some names here in Guangdong are just too similar, for example there is a Guangcheng and a Guancheng and a Guansheng...and I'll never get them right. So I'm sorry for any confusion caused! |
