I live in San Francisco and it is very common for single folks to share a house to afford to live in SF. What is it like in CR? Is it common? I know it is not common in Europe.
I'd like to keep my living expenses low. I figure I can rent a one bedroom in Orosi for $200/month. Maybe I can rent a bigger place for like $800 and rent the other rooms out? I would like to live with ticos and be immersed in spanish. Or I will do the Home Stay?

Is house-sharing not common in Europe? That's news for one who lived for 22 years there. :)
If you've a sincere desire to learn Spanish and no problem hanging around people, I'd suggest a homestay. Arranging to share a house or apt with people shouldn't be a problem either. That's what I'm doing. |

Check out www.ticotimes.net or costarica.craigslist.org
You should find some ads there to give you some ideas of what's available. Both Homestays and sharing a rental with others is very common. |
