I will be starting at NOVA's multimedia center in July/August, but I'm planning on staying in Japan for more than my one year contract and as such I think it would be best to have face to face teaching experience. I mainly applied to the multimedia center to get Osaka as my place of assignment. Ideally I'd like to end up at a branch in Kobe.

Does NOVA make it difficult to switch back and forth from the the multimedia center to a regular branch? I've read multiple things about transferring branches, and it seems like it isn't that difficult.

Also, do they have any time frame for transfers? Obviously, I'd wait until at least after the probationary period.

Finally, if you do change branches and live in a company apartment is it hard to move to a more local apartment if it make the commute unreasonable?

I started at a small branch in Chiba and told my AT I wanted to transfer to Tokyo as soon as I got there. It took about six months for them to transfer me.

I wasn't in a Nova apartment, but I had friends who were. You can move out at any point. The only problem will be coming up with the several thousand dollars it takes to get your own apartment.

You could also ask Nova to find a new apartment for you. I knew lots of people who transferred from Nova apartment to Nova apartment.

I don't really know about MM vs regular branch, but it's a big company and usually quite easy to move around. Just make sure they like you, or nobody will want to recommend you to a new branch.

That's about what I expected. Wow, 6 months though. I don't know how popular Kobe is, but I'm glad I asked, so I can get it started right when I get there.

Yeah, I'd love to find my own apartment, but I have no idea how long it'll take to get save up enough to do so. So, I'll be sticking to a Nova apartment for a while.

Transfers depend entirely on branch availability & demand. I transferred from my horrid suburban branch to Shinjuku in about 3 months, then transferred to Kichijoji in a week. I just told my AAM that I wanted to go to Kichijoji and he said it was fine and that I could go there next week.
