Yes, it was kind of foolish of me not to take note of the date of the above posts. Still, any one still interested in Bilkent has my up to date comment.

cheers

how difficult is it to get hired at bilkent?

I can't say anything about the language school, but can say a little about the FAE.

You should have a Masters degree. They do like Philosophy degrees, but just about any research degree would be useful. You have to be able to write and would be asked to write a short paper prior to an interview. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of Academic Writing - remember we are not primarily language instructors. We teach reading, reading into writing, various types of essay writing and work at improving critical thinking and study skills in general.

Experience would be helpful, very helpful. Having an understanding of content-based course design would also be helpful, but not necessarily required. One very good thing about Bilkent is that experience is valued, meaning don't worry about not being a fresh young thing. They value maturity balanced with teaching experience.

There is a current job posting

The job is demanding and is not for the 'tourist' teacher. We are all quite serious about our work and take pride in what we do.

I hope that gives you something of an answer to your question.
