| you know as well as anyone that KSA is what it is. Sorry if some of us aren't jumping on your 'woes me' bandwagon. |
I am not on a 'woe is me' bandwagon, all the ranting is coming from you, She Baa and Cassava.
I merely pointed out that when She Baa said there would be no problems with getting taxis around Riyadh, that did not agree with my experience. Years ago I had been given the good advice never to get into a taxi in Riyadh unless you could give the taxi driver clear instructions where to go (and were sure he would understand them). I felt this advice was worth giving to a newbie.
As a result of this She Baa set of on some tangential rant, and has now been joined by cassava and yourself. No doubt some, or all of you, have pschcological problems that result in your needing to set up ridiculous strawmen so you can feel more comfortable. Unfortunately the rest of us fimd this hysteria tiresome.

I think it's also obvious to any educated, dispassionate, logical person that Cleo's and Sheba's replies are really quite lame.
They also are confused by the term "racist." I think most of us are more comfortable with certain cultures than others. This is true with Brits and Americans, in general, who have lived in Japan. Generally speaking, they tend to be much more comfortable with the Chinese than with the Japanese. This is not just my own perspective; it has also been written about countless times in columns in major newspapers such as the Herald Tribune...stories about expats in Japan feeling such a relief when visiting Hong Kong, for example, while working in Japan. It's a matter of cultural compatibility, I suppose, and has nothing to do with racism. If I found I enjoyed Chinese culture much more, and married a Chinese and would probably not consider a Japanese because of long experience in Japan, does that make me racist? It's a matter of cultural fit, not "racism." Our schoolmarms need to understand the difference, but that seems to be a steep learning curve for them.

| Yeah, I know. Lengthy 'anecdotes' about fat boys and pregnant bellies are clearly the product of an educated, dispassionate and logical mind. |

Gee, Casava, you paid a high price and got little for your obsequious genuflection at the alter of the high priestess of political correctness. All Queenie was prepared to throw your way in return for your pieties were a few crumbs of condescension. Perhaps she saw you as a usurper rather than as an acolyte? A person in her fragile state of narcissistic grandiosity is not likely to brook any pretender to her position as the chief dispenser of moral outrage. Although she has in the past shown that she has a robust ego, it has no basis in reality and now gives every sign of imminent decompensation. |

Zlestial, I don't blame you for your jealousy, but rest easy because too may end up in my good graces. It's just that you need a few more posts before I can assess you properly. Good luck. |

It is you who is always crying and whining about the loss of life you suffered in Saudi Arabia. All a reader has to do is click on your posts to see that you are whining 3/4 of the time. The amusing part is you have admitted that you worked in Saudi for one year, and have also said that you have since left. Yet you complain, and whine, and complain and annoy. So, as long as you and others whine, I will point the finger of irony and justice at you. Now, if your eyes are watering over Saudi Arabia, its because of your own bad judgement, and your stereotypical and unaware posts on Dave's. |

Our "pschcological problems" are caused by the countless changes of your stories and whines - we are only trying to keep up with your onset of early dementia.
If you are tired of the hysteria, then stop the whine, or have some cheese with it, and finish it already. |

| I get it...our self-appointed female muttawas, being graduates of both the (VT) School for International Training for Mindless Cultural Relativism and the D.i ck Cheney School of Happy Talk ("Realists, smart people, and those with integrity need not apply," says the brochure), have decreed only happy talk about the magic kingdom shall be permissable. Violation of this rule will result in instant, really lame riposts. |

My story hasn't changed at all. The only changes have been in your bizarre interpretations of it.
As to whines, I'm not whining, except about the facts that we have to suffer perpetual outpourings of bile from detritus such as yourself. |

Aside from the fact that your post was a complete non-sequiteur, I've never understood why so many expats are obsessed with 'mutawwas', even to the point of imagining their existence on ESL boards concerned with countries they proudly claim to have left behind many years ago.

Now, I know you consider yourself quite a wise guy - I mean, that Cheney 'joke' must have taken a while to think up - but surely using the word 'lame' twice in the space of a few posts is a bit, well, lame? Especially as I've not been a part of the main ongoing discussion on this thread, but I suppose since you (evidently) couldn't get your facts right in the case of "Asian women" then it really would be too much to ask for you to do so now. Your inability to respond to my requests for those 'multiple references' does not make you look that smart, but hey, congratulations on being able to go a whole post without informing us yet again that someone supposedly married you. |
