How long has this organization been in Kuwait under its various names? I just read through their new job ad here and guess what? All these years and they still don't know the name of the currency in the country. They are paying in
DINAH
Is that Dinah Shore?
Thanks for the good laugh guys over my lunch... but just so you don't look so foolish next time... it is the Kuwaiti DINAR...

Hi VS, I read your post, and the ad from TQLS and am trying to find out if you know anything about them. My wife is interested in the position they have advertised. She has the qualifications they want and we want to know if they are a serious recuiter, just making a mistake about the spelling of the currency or are you saying they aren't worth trying!?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. |

They're trying to hire; they emailed me asking me to send an updated CV. I suppose I'd better try and find out who they are.
After all being paid in Kuwaiti dinah is quite nice.
The dinah is worth about 60% more than the dinar, seeings they give 900 KDinah monthly (KD 10,800 pa) as the equivalent of GBP 28,000 pa, whilst KD 900 a month is only worth GBP 19,000 pa. They give 1,000 KDinah a month as being equal to GBP 30,000 pa, when it is only GBP 21,000 pa.
On a serious note it looks as if they have simply added GBP 9,000 on to the conversion, presumably as being the sterling value of the 'benefits' you receive or tax you don't pay.

Thanks for the info, that makes sense, although it's a pretty unusual way of quoting a salary to me. We'll see how it goes, and if I get any info on them will post it. |

They have been around for many years under the letters: IPEQT
Do a search and read the good, bad, and ugly...

(did they really ask you to apply SJ? Now that would be an odd career move... ) |

I must have applied to them last June when I suddenly found I needed a job. I didn't get the firm KFUPM offer until mid-July.
I can't remember what the outcome was. I was offered a job in Kuwait which I declined, as well as getting interviews from Hawthorne & CfBT for Oman, a couple of blind offers from Thailand and elsewhere, and a fair number from Korea.
If the dinahs really were at the exchange rate suggested it would be promotion. Unfortunately at real world exchange rates the pay is almost the same as KFUPM and the holidays two months shorter (and of course I can work the holidays if I want).
And that's before we take IPTEQs reputation into account. |

Just to confirm that they read the board... I see that they have a new corrected ad today...

But just maybe it was Dave who made the typo and the mods told Dave about it... maybe. Not conclusive evidence that they read the boards. |

I would say that the ads are probably a cut and paste job... and if it was a typo, it would have only been once instead of repeatedly.
I doubt the MODs even look at the ads... they have enough problems keeping us corralled.
If I was going to put money on it, I would say that it was typed by a relatively newbie at TQLS who typed it the way s/he says it... which is evidence that the person was NOT American. (OK... maybe if from Boston...)

VS, don't tar us all with the same brush. Scot and Stephen might be trouble makers but not all of us are. |
