I'm moving to Santiago to teach around late June. It is my first time there. I'd like to live in a pension for at least a month while I get myself settled. Can anyone recommend a nice reasonably priced pension near or around Providencia?

Thanks.

If you're willing to live a little further away, living in the city center (around Cerro Santa Lucia, etc.) is cheaper and closer...the pensiones are much more affordable, as well. I lived in a pension two blocks from the Metro station Santa Lucia. It's a quick ride to Providencia from there. PM for address, if you're interested. Clean living Jehovah's witness family (I'm not JW, but was glad for the environment).

I sent this to someone via email and thought that it might be useful to someone else.

Hi, I can't seem to find the address, but I can give you directions. To answer your questions first, when I was there (2004 - and it had been open a while), the lady, Senora Patricia, did not allow smoking, drinking, or overnight guests. I had two other roommates. No balcony...it's on the bottom floor. It cost about $150 USD/ mo. when I was there.

Directions:

Get off the Metro at Cerro Santa Lucia on the south side of the Alameda. Walk south on Santa Rosa (I think, it's straight out of the metro station) 3 blocks. It's a red, U-shaped building on your right, two storied, and the house is the last one downstairs on the right side. There's a park just past it on the next corner.

I have no connection to this pension other than having lived there for a few months.
