I'd second ESL's opinions on Asia ,especially China.

It's a linguists' heaven .(If you're into that !!)

Also you can pick up simple communicable Chinese easily in 6 months (if u work at it)It's really not so hard .

Asia is easier than it sounds to adjust to. And you'll figure out the characters you really need pretty quickly.

I've been researching jobs in Russia recently, I'm thining of heading there too. The only thing stopping me is that every single teacher seems to struggle to survive on their wages because the costs are huge. It'll be much easier to survive financially in Asia I think.
