Apologies if this has been done already (I did try to search honest) but what is the best way to get a proper recognised teaching qualification in this part of the world.
Is it possible to study for a TESOL / CELTA / TEFL certificate in Taipei and if so where? and has anyone done this?
If not where else? and is it worth?
Thanks in advance |

The only real qualification to teach English as a foreign teacher in Taiwan is a white face. The whiter your face the more qualified you are. The Government of the Republic of China places qualification restrictions on teachers but as the government is openly corrupt and easily bought those restrictions are widely ignored, and justly so.
Yes, you can get a TESOL certificate in Taiwan. Unfortunately the Government of the Republic of China still refuses to allow uncensored and non-Chinese controlled education, so it will not be internationally, or locally accredited.
Check the local papers, there are advertisements for said courses quite often.
Good luck,
A. |

Thanks Aristotle .. I've been teaching here for a year now so know about how few qualifications one needs in order to secure a job but I have discovered that I really enjoy the teaching (doh!) so want to properly further myself in this field. |
