Hi all,
I am looking for teaching opportunities in Tokyo. I'm 30, have an MA in TESOL, and am teaching college level ESL in the U.S. Does anyone have ideas about specific schools or colleges that might be hiring or that might in the future? I know the city is expensive but I want to try. I know about the JET program and others, but I would like to find a job in the city (which I don't think JET can guarantee) and I would prefer to teach adults, maybe high school kids. Thanks for any feedback,
Rebekah

Might you have an idea about which ones? Shall I just visit individual websites? Or might you know of a general 'job' or
education' website? Thanks for the reply!

I've made the jump to (and from) Japan for university positions several times now. It can be done, though applying from overseas with minimal qualifications for (especially in the Tokyo area) highly competitive positions is very challenging.

The specific nature of these challenges and a number of suggestions (including job links) are discussed here (see pg. 1 and pg. 3 especially):

You might consider taking a JET or eikaiwa position to get yourself here, then applying after you arrive. Applying while in Japan increases your chances greatly. If you are in Japan, these two sites are your best bets for university positions:

The JREC site is a good one, I have often used it. As taikibansei
noted, it probably is easier once you're already established here. If nothing else, if you get an interview now, you'd have to fly out here anyway each time just to interview.

Have you looked at the FAQ sticky #3 at the top of the page?
