What happens if you have overstayed your visa for a whopping five months when you leave the country?
The person in question was not aware until now that the permit/visa has been cancelled e.g. not been transfered to the new employer. The person learned about this when a prospective employer wanted to start the procedure to transfer the permit/visa contacted the current employer and then it all came out.
Person in question is a British Citizen.
Am I right that this person is in big, big trouble when leaving Turkey?
Any info would be highly appreciated. |

I came back to the UK yesterday just for two days to visit family. I was 4 months over my tourist visa. I had to pay a fine of 400 YTL but the cops at the airport (Ataturk) didn't say anything at all really. One of them asked "are you a student?" to which I said "no" and then he said "oh ok". That was it. |
