Who is this amorphous 'they' ?
There are two Medicals
1. For employer - sometimes they don't bother
2. For entry visa - varies, depending on where you get the visa. Bangkok is not the same as Washington and London is not the same as Auckland.
If you were a bit more specific you might get an answer. |

As Scot says, the exact requirements of the medical vary from embassy to embassy. However, you can probably count on having to do an AIDS test, various blood tests, urine samples, possibly TB screening and the list goes on.
Suffice it to say that the doctor who did my tests, and who specialised in such matters, said he had never seen such a thorough medical exam for visa purposes. And this was for the London Embassy - I have heard that the tests in 'third world' countries are even more stringent. |

The exact tests required vary from embassy to embassy, as the most prevalent diseases also vary.
Standard for all countries are tests for HIV, Hepatitis B & C, TB and other respiratory diseases from the X-Ray.
When you get to Saudi you will also do the same battery of tests + CRT tests for the residence permit. Your employer may also have his own.
There are differing requirements for each country. In the US you need to get each test stamped by the county test authority; in the UK the foreign Office needs to stamp that the doctors signature is genuine.
If you give more details we might be able to help more. |

What parts of your anatomy do they see? I guess i was assuming that someone in saudi arabia deso the medical exam? My concern is not about the blood tests but rather about what parts of my anatomy they will be looking at poking, prodding examining and so on. I am semi op FTM. chest surgery without lower surgery. So i would jsut not like to be discovered as having any female anatomy. I do not inform others of my medical condition because I do not see it as anyones business, however, In the confines of the internet, announcing my medical status seems safe. |

So, you have to go through two batteries of medical tests - one conducted prior to entry in Saudi Arabia and another similar set of tests in Saudi Arabia to get the residence visa? Any idea as to why they repeat these extensive and intrusive tests? |

I'll ignore the weak excuse for a troll that is the OP, but in answer to the last question: There seems to me no logical reason why medical tests which were considered good enough for the embassy to let you enter Saudi Arabia should need to be repeated once you are in the Kingdom. The good news is that not all employers insist on you redoing all, or any of the tests. To give my own experience: one employer insisted that I do all the tests again, as though I had never done them before. Another employer didn't ask me to re-do any tests, while another just had me do a few perfunctionary blood tests. |

Thanks for the information Cleo.
So, it is at the discretion of the employer and is not mandated by the Saudi government? |

Good question - I'd never thought about that before.
Given that there is so much variation between employers, one would assume that re-doing the medical tests is not in fact an official requirement. |

It has been an official requirement of the Saudi government for some time now that the tests be repeated in Saudi.
It is also a requirement when iqamas are renewed, though that appears to be less strictly enforced. |

If so, it seems to be honoured more in the breach than the observance, at least if my experience is anything to go by. |

Hi. I am not a troll. Feel free to explain why you think i am? But i would much rather know if the doctors in saudi arabia would be poking, or prodding the lower regions of my body. Maybe to check for prostate cancer or something. I am sure the blood tests wont be a problem. But i would just like to know if in general they physically examine you? and to what extent.
Thanks |

Dream on.
Seems unlikely to me that you'll ever get to Saudi Arabia, let alone have doctors 'poking' at your nether regions. |

Mr/Ms Inkazak, before I answer your questions, could you please tell me if you feel like a man or a woman? Also do you experience any type of 'Gender Identity Disorder'? |

I don't suspect it is enforced more in the breach than the observance Cleo, but that it is a fairly new requirement.
How far back it goes I don't know as the RC always did them for itself, but I can say from personal experience that they have been in effect since the beginning of Nov 2006 at least. |
