I'm sure this has been brought up on here often, but I need some information. My girlfriend has just quit her job and will likely have her ARC cancelled next Friday. So a visa run in the future is in order. Just a few questions about this. Is it difficult to get a 60 day visitors visa after already having an ARC? Can anyone recommend which TECOs are the best to go to(quick process time, less scrutiny, etc.)? What forms and documents are needed in advance to apply for a new visitors visa? What fees are involved and are they payable in NT? How long does it take for a visitors visa to be processed? Do TECOs tend to be open on the weekends (my guess would be probably not) or would the run have to be made during the week? Does anyone have any contact info or addresses for TECO offices? I know it's a lot of questions, but any information would be appreciated |

Do yourself a favor and go to the Ministry of Immigration (the office where you got yoru ARC card). If you have a job lined up, you may not need to leave the country to transfer sponsorship. |

no job lined up. she's going to take a vacation and do some privates before looking for anything serious, so a new visitors visa is needed. |

I have recently been to the Bangkok TECO office and had no problems applying there.
One suggestion I would like to make is contact the office by phone or e-mail before you leave Taiwan. Ask them what documents you need and also check their address and opening hours. Check if they are closed for any public holidays as most offices will observe local public holidays as well as the Taiwanese ones.
Coming back on the plane from Taiwan I met a woman who had a few problems applying for the visa. She had the wrong address for the office, but as far as I know it has been in its current location for at least five years. A bit of forward planning can save a lot of hassles and allow you to actually enjoy your visa run as a holiday not some tiresome chore. |
