I'm new to this particular forum but not new to teaching EFL.

I realize that salaries in Latin America are not as high as they are in Asia however I wondered what kind of opportunities are out there for professionals in TESOL?

I am currently working for a very good adult intensive school here in California while finishing up my coursework for my masters in TESOL and I'd like to consider Costa Rica for a future job however I cannot afford to work for an extremely low salary unless private tutoring is an option...

any advice or suggestions?

Probably my university, ULACIT, would be interested in hiring you. The next term starts in September.

Teaching private classes is definitely an option. However, you need to be "connected," by which I mean that you need to know people and have a reputation for being a good English teacher. If you impress other teachers like myself who have been here for quite a while, we may be able to pass on private students that we are unable to take on ourselves.
