It looks more and more that Saturday will be added to the school week from April.

I timed my duty in Japan well, then. Got in just after they removed Saturday, got out before they reinstate it. If it does come back, I suspect ALTs aren't gonna be jumping for joy.

However, they never really got rid of Saturday, did they? They merely turned Saturdays into school club festival days.

Six day work week, no thanks.

As far as I know, no ALTs (or very few) or JETs worked on Saturdays when kids had to go to school on that day.

I doubt things will change if Saturday lessons are reinstated.

What gets me is that there are certain conservative groups in Japan who want to see kids in school on a Saturday because "they have too much time on their hands" at the moment.
