Hi
I just wanted to pass on this warning to any girls working or travelling in Amsterdam
Recently a young Australian girl was drugged and attacked by a group of men, she apparently only just escaped with her life, as the drug dosage was quite lethal.

This isn't the first time this group has done this and as yet they have not been caught. Please take care when your out and about and if your with your friends or girlfriends, keep an eye on each other.

Take care

If the dose was 'quite lethal', why is she still alive ?

Why "quite" lethal? Are there various grades of lethality? And as for the misuse of "your"...

Lethal ? Something either is lethal or it isn't. It is like being pregnant. You can't be a little pregnant - or a little dead.

I suspect this is an urban legend. If something like that had happened "recently", it would have been in the Australian news media.

Not sure if this is an urban legend, but it has happened in Amsterdam that tourists had their drinks spiked with drugs. I forgot the name of the drug, but it's the stuff they normally use to sedate horses and cows. No joke, it's a common drug in the gay scene and in a high dose it's lethal for obvious reasons.

But it is not something that happens frequently!! The most common problem is tourists getting stoned and then combine it with alcohol, or buying hard drugs from the street sellers. In other words, if you can't handle drugs at home don't try them in Amsterdam. The weed there is much stronger than what most people are used to!

Two years ago the Amsterdam Police Corps did hand out flyers with advice on how to behave and on drug use to arriving travellers/tourists at Amsterdam station because there too many of them getting into trouble.

The lethal horse-sedative spiked drinks are another urban legend.

Ketamine hydrochloride, the "horse-tranquiliser" in question (although neither, strictly speaking a tranquiliser, nor a sedative - and, at one time, Madonna's drug of choice) is also indicated for use with babies and the elderly (although in lesser amounts, obviously).

It is also highly alkaline and is not taken internally. so spiking someone's drink will just cause them to vomit.

But perhaps you meant Rohypnol, which is neither a sedative, nor used on horses or cows.

Or perhaps you meant another drug entirely.

Or perhaps you just failed to heed all the warnings against mixing one's urban myths!

You can get your drink spiked anywhere, even in your local pub or bar, if you're not careful.

It doesn't matter if you live in Amsterdam or Adelaide, you need to keep a watch on your drinks at all times.

rubbish, all that "my drink was spiked" thing is just an excuse, I have seen people come up with that excuse after having way to many and making t its of themselves
or waking up in a strangers bed
Also the British polices have nearly giving up on these kind of cases, cause they are nearly 90% rubbish

Alcohol, you either can hold it or you cant, end of

Indeed, for the love of God I can't remember what the name of the stuff is that they use to spike people's drinks.
What I know for sure is, that it does happen in Amsterdam. Anyone who lives there and goes to one of the big clubs, never leaves their drink unattended. It's just common sense. No, it does not happen frequently, in fact it's rather rare but you just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But the chance of getting hit by a taxi driver who's on speed or coke, or walking into a tram or being hit by one of the bikes is much higher than having your drink spiked.

There is another thing to be careful about. When you are walking on the pavement don't step on on the cracks or the Bears will come and get you.

Not to forget the canals! Can't remember the exact number but each year people fall into them, most of them being drunk British who are taking a piss Smile
And if you park your car at a canal and it's gone when you come back, most likely it hasn't been stolen but you forgot to pull the hand breaks and it has just rolled int the canal Laughing
