I'd like to teach in Thailand or another Southeast Asian country for four months this winter -- Nov. - Feb. and I'm wondering how I can find work for just this time period. I know this is not the regular school year. It is, however, the time I have free.

I have a Bachelor's in Education (social sciences and English), a lifetime California Secondary Teaching Credential and a Masters in Library Science, with lots of experience as a teacher, with computer databases and as a university librarian. Do you know if I might find university students who would want help learning English and/or need help with library research and writing their papers? I do not have training in ESL at this time -- not sure if I would need this certificate.

A related question -- would this bring in a stable income? I'd like to cover my basic travel expenses. Any advice you can give me would be very much appreciated.

I'm interested in the same thing (I hope you don't mind the piggyback 4monthteacher), but have a slightly different situation. I'm coming to get my CELTA, probably in November, and have been thinking of sticking around until the good jobs open up in Japan (March). I'm not looking to make a lot of money, just enough to pay the bills while I referbish my Thai and enjoy life. I'd hate to do any damage though, so I'd be honest about my plans up front. Is it even possible for this short amount of time?

The university semester starts around the end of October so the jobs get advertised a bit earlier. Should be no problem starting in November though if you already had the job lined up. You should be all right with your qualifications but teaching is more secure than editing work (which is possible but the jobs are few and well-sought after). It depends how much you are willing to work for. Hope this helps.
