Or even better, put it into the ice cube thingy you have in your freezer and you really do have stock cubes!! |

Ahh..you beat me. Good idea Dmb. By the way, brown sauce is made by slowly boiling down a beef stock over a day or so, isn't it? |

Brown sauce? you mean HP?
Some of the finer things in life can't be recreated.
I've just been to the fridge and had a look at the ingredients of HP and it is quite complex.
I am a bit of an expert when it comes to Brown sauce. In most of the UK when you go to a chippie you get salt and vinegar on your chips. However in Edinburgh you get salt and sauce. I worked part-time in a chippie when I was at school for almost 2 years. I know how to make the sauce. I was sworn to secrecy so I can't tell you. |

Ok but you have got to promise not to tell anyone. It's actually quite simple. It was made of one third Daddy's sauce and 2 thirds water.
*Random thought #67543 why are all the best chippies and ice cream places in Scotland Italian? Do we have Mussolini to thank?
*Random useless information # 98274356. The Scottish guy who won the Indy 500 last weekend... his dad owns an ice cream chain in Lothian. I used to go there as a kid.... but only if I was a good dmb. |

| Actually, I could have gone either way. I was just testing the winds (as it were) to see whether this thread was going the way of the grotesque, the absurd, or the logical. I'm very flexible. |
