Are we being silly again?

The question is far too vague for any meaningful answer as it could refer to far too many things. Depending on whether you are talking about the salary, the working conditions, the number of hours worked, the ability of the Japanese to learn English, the nightlife, the "birds", the food, the transportation system, the "spiritual" side of things... a single poster could answer all of the above and whether or not Japan "meets expectations" is neither clearly postitive or negative.

In other words, what do you expect to get from this thread?

Hey, keep your shirt on there Johnny. All I meant by the poll was if Japan lived up to your preconcieved expectations which you had before you came. This means overall. If if didn't meet, etc., one or more, you could write about how different the real Japan is from what you imagined it would be, that's all.

What if I expected Japan to be horrible and it wasn't?

What a vague question. Everyone has different expectations to begin with, so asking if those expectations were fulfilled or not is pointless because everyone is coming at the question from a different angle.

I had very few expectations but the ones I had weren't met at all. Which ofcourse is a good thing. If everything just happens as you expect or predict it to be then life would be so dull. Howver, so many great things that I never expected have appeared. Also some unexpected bad things which I try to use those bad things things to make me think and keep me on my toes.
