Looking for some advice how to find a cheap one way ticket back to Poland in August this year.
My round trip covers me on the way back to the US, but I am looking for the cheapest possible one-way ticket to fly out of either JFK in NY or Newark Liberty in NJ to Poland at the end of August.
I found one airline out of JFK, Aer Lingus, an Irish airline, a one-way with tax is $492, but it goes to Warsaw, so i'd have to schlep 3 luggages around on trains back to Wroclaw.
If anybody's got any ideas, maybe if you have found some cheap ways of getting back and forth from the states, I would appreciate the advice.
thanks in advance |

Get a round trip ticket and set the return date for when you are planning on coming back to the States - even if you're not planning on coming back for a while. This will be much cheaper than buying two one-way tickets.
Most airlines let you move the return date anyway for $100. |

You can probably get a cheap flight to London from JFK, and from London you can fly ryanair or wizzair to either Wroclaw or Katowice. Ryanair flies out of Stansted to Wroclaw and Wizzair out of Luton (I think) to Katowice. The flight from London to Wroclaw can be as cheap as about 20 pounds with tax. The only problem is getting a flight to Stansted Airport from JFK. You will probably only be able to get a flight to Heatherow (or the other major London airport, I can't think of the name right now), and then you need to get from Heatherow to Stansted. There are coaches or you can take the metro. I took a coach form Luton to Stansted, and it was about 13 pounds and took about an hour. I think Heatherow to Stansted is about 3-4 hours. you can get info online - the coach service is called National Express. Good luck! |

The problem with Ryan and WIzz is that they charge a huge amount of money for the luggage, and you said you had 3 [!!!] bags. So, I don't advise it. |

I found flights from JFK to LXU, London Mcpl. (McCorporal?) for $248. From there I need to get to Standsted, the flight came up as 30 pounds with all taxes, fees, yada yada.
There is a 15kg limit with baggage, one per person, and you pay for this one baggage. Then you pay another $10 per kilo over the limit. If I had even 2 bags, the second one would probably cost me $200, easily. I planned on taking a big one and packing it with whatever I wanted to take back with me from the states. With that, the cost of the flights alone will exceed $500, not to mention I have to pay to get to this airport from LXU.
If I book a regular flight from JFK with a layover in Frankfurt, it will run about $700, with less headache. I'm starting to think it's worth the extra $100-$150. Ryanair's good when you need to take a quick trip out somewhere and your packing just a carryon bag.
I guess you get what you pay for. |

I flew with Ryan air once a couple years ago and went over by 5 kilos, luckily I wasn't charged. |
