| I'd just finished my MA in TESOL degree and then came to this city to take a summer course for credits that would count towards renewing my state teaching certificate back in the USA. (Amazing how I'd just completed a 2-year MA program and was still missing 2 credits needed in a specific area to renew my state certificate.) While I was chatting with the director of a language school one day, she asked if I'd be interested in teaching at her school. That was my first job in this city. For my second/current job, I heard by word of mouth that the local university was looking for qualified, experienced teachers for their EFL department. I dropped by their office with my CV in hand, was given an informal interview on the spot, had two more interviews that same week, and was hired. |

I'm currently working for a school I found on http://www.tefl.com
Next year I'd like to go teach in Latin America but these countries don't seem to post a lot of ads, so I have the feeling I'm going to have to fly in with a backpack and scout around for work... |

You could be right about Latin America. I hope to get down there one of these days for a trip and maybe I'll find out some info.
Seems www.tefl.com was lucky for many though lately I haven't found much of interest to me. |

That's certainly true in this city. Rarely if ever do schools post job ads any further than the local newspaper. There was a language school here that used to post job ads on the internet and boasted of hiring only native English speakers. However, it went out of business a couple of years ago. |
